We won!

Thank you voters for your strong show of support in this Special Election! Thank you to the many, many volunteers for your hard work and commitment. I could not have done this without you. And thanks to Nate Blumenshine for running a respectful, issue focused campaign that brought the people of our district together, rather than divide us.

I am excited to get to work on your behalf and on behalf of the entire district at the State Capitol. My early priorities will be to bring jobs and job training to our district, work on a fair tax system for Minnesota and fight the discriminatory constitutional marriage amendment. I look forward to getting to know you better, hearing about your priorities and about how I can best represent you.

The regular 2012 election cycle is right around the corner. The results of this year’s elections will be critical to advancing the issues most important to the people of our district. I look forward to working shoulder to shoulder with you!

Yours,
Susan Allen

Susan is 61B’s DFL nominee!

This Tuesday, December 6th, Susan Allen resoundingly won 61B’s special primary election. We are now one step closer to sending Susan to the state legislature.  We could not have done this without our supporters.  Thank you for everything you have done, and we look forward to working with you to win the general election on January 10th!

Susan is DFL Endorsed!

This Saturday, November 12th, at the HD 61B’s special endorsing convention, Susan was honored to receive the DFL’s endorsement!  Getting to know the delegates in this district better has been incredibly informational and valuable. Susan looks forward to working with 61B’s activists to win the primary and general elections, and to bring our voices to the capitol.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the endorsing process.  We will be in touch soon about how you can get further involved with Susan’s campaign!

Greetings

I am running for the Minnesota House seat in District 61B, because I firmly believe that all members of our community have a stake in the success of our neighborhoods.

As a strong progressive champion, I will continue to fight for the economic, social, and environmental issues that matter to our district. Access to affordable healthcare, attracting well paying jobs and business development to our region, protecting the land, air, and groundwater for current and future generations, and creating a fair state and local tax structure that meets the needs and expectations of our communities are issues I will prioritize.

Powderhorn Park neighborhood in District 61B has been my home for 14 of my 48 years. I raised my son here and it’s here that I’m watching my three grandchildren grow. I grew up in poverty with many challenges, made it through law school with the support of my family and became a lawyer so that I could fight for economic and social justice for those who most need an advocate. I know what it’s like to feel left out of the process.

I reflect the great diversity of our district, as a Native American woman and a member of the LGBT community, and hope to bring this important voice to the state capital to offer more balanced, representative contributions and input.
